Payment Options

 

We offer a range of rate payment options to suit your needs.


BPAY Online or via Phone

You can pay via BPay online or over the phone from your online banking cheque or savings account portal. You will need your customer reference number and biller codes that are printed on your rates notice and/or water notice.

 


Australia Post Bill Pay

Simply: 

  • Take your rates notice and/or water notice into any Australia Post Office or agency to make your payment
  • Phone 13 18 16 to pay via credit card over the phone; or 
  • Pay online at Postbillpay

Centrepay

You can make regular deductions from your Centrelink payment using Centrepay. Click here for more information
You will need your account number, which is your property number (shown in the top right-hand corner of the front page of your rates notice and/or water notice) and Council's Reference Number which is 555 054 067V.

Please note, surcharges may apply for credit card payments.

You can make a payment at any of our Council offices, you can find opening hours and location details here.

 


Via Mail

If you’d like to make payment via mail, please make out a cheque to ‘Tamworth Regional Council’ and ensure it is crossed ‘Not Negotiable'. Then post your cheque and the tear-off slip from your rates or water notice to:

Rates Due Dates

Payments being made in full should be made on or before the first instalment date.  

If paying by instalment, payment should be made on or before the due date of the instalment. 

Council will send notices prior to the due dates.

If payment is not be received by the due date, interest will accrue on a daily basis and recovery action may be taken – see more under What happens if I do not pay my rates. 

Accrual of interest on overdue rates and charges is allowable under the Local Government Act 1993 Section 566 ‘Accrual of interest on overdue rate and charges.’
The interest rate is set annually by the NSW Government and is advised by Council Circular, which can be found via the Office of Local Government website.

 

Instalment Dates

Payment Due Issue Date Due Date
Payment in-full or payment of the 1st Instalment July 31 August
Payment of the 2nd Instalment October 30 November
Payment of the 3rd Instalment January 28 February
Payment of the 4th Instalment April 31 May

If one of these dates falls on a weekend the due date will be set as the Monday after.
