We love celebrating our people, and each year Council recognises the outstanding contributions of those who have excelled or given back to our community through the Local Legends Awards and the Tamworth Regional Sports Awards. These awards recognised individuals and groups from across the area.
The Local Legends Awards saw three Volunteer of the Year Awards received across three age brackets, with Elle Woods, Breanna McFadyen and Gregory John Roese claiming this Award in their respective age group.
There were two Access Awards given with the business category award to Tamworth Tenpins and more for the programs they run that promote inclusion within the disability community, and the individual Award went to Ann Peters for providing allied health services.
Other Local Legends Awards included the Community Inclusion Award going to Danielle Northey, the Excellence in Sustainability Award went to Penny Milson, the Excellence in Performing Arts Award went to Robyn Bourke and the Excellence in Visual Arts Award went to Kayleb Waters-Sampson. Kayleb also claimed the Local Legend of the Year Award
The 2023 Sports Awards saw the Junior and Senior Sports Stars of the Year go to Jorja Roach (Football and Futsal), and Jake Douglas (CrossFit) respectively, for their high representation in sport. Jake also claimed the Overall Sports Star of the Year Award.
