Completed in 1980, the Calala Water Treatment Plant has had the same electrical system from over 40 years ago. But now it's time for an upgrade!
Thanks to our water capital works program, we're upgrading the system as well as installing new switchboards, safer 415-volt pump motors and variable speed drives for better pump control. Plus, we're adding a new switch-room and putting some power lines underground for extra safety.
The benefits? A more reliable power supply, reduced safety risks, and improved pump control!
The project commenced in 2021 and is expected to be finished by mid-2024.
