(a) The
Council, at its discretion will call for Expressions of Interest from the
community to gain membership on the Barraba Australia Day Advisory Panel.
(b) The
appointment to the Barraba Australia Day Advisory Panel is at the discretion of
Council in accordance with the provisions of Section 355 and Section 377 of the
Local Government Act 1993.
(c) Barraba
Australia Day Advisory Panel members are representatives of the local
community.
(d) Whilst
no particular qualifications are necessary, a positive commitment to the role
of the Barraba Australia Day Advisory Panel and a willingness to be actively
involved in the panel review is essential as well as an interest in local
community achievements throughout their term on the advisory panel.
(e)
All nominations (supported by a referee) for
appointment to the Barraba Australia Day Advisory Panel are required to be
formally submitted in writing to Council. Nominations
will close 4pm Thursday 13 October
2022.
(f)
Council must appoint members to the Barraba
Australia Day Advisory Panel before being able to vote on recommendations made
to council.
(g) Members
of the Barraba Australia Day Advisory Panel will be appointed for a 3-year
term, upon which council will call for Expressions of Interest for the ensuing
3-year term. Members may submit Expressions of Interest for the ensuing 3-year
term.
(h) The
panel will consist of 4 members.
(i)
Members
of Barraba Australia Day Advisory Panel are volunteers and therefore do not
receive payment for their involvement or pecuniary benefit.
(j)
A review of all Barraba Australia Day Award
nominations will be called by the convening Place Manager. Following the review
of all nominations the Barraba Australia Day Advisory Panel will make
recommendations to council for endorsement of determined Award recipients.
Barraba Australia Day Advisory Panel members are expected to remain unbiased
throughout the review process.
