Residents in the Hills Plain area would have noticed a large concrete structure appearing over the past 12 months.
Delivering on a key theme of our Blueprint 100 strategy, the Peppercorn Lane Reservoir represents a $7.3 million investment in durable water infrastructure.
The project ensures the growing number of householders who are expected to make Hills Plain their home in the coming years will have sufficient drinking water storage to meet demand now and into the future.
We engaged specialists to construct the 10 megalitre precast concrete reservoir. It involved significant earthworks, forming a base slab and 24 pre-cast concrete panels. Each of the panels weighed about 35 tonnes, and were lifted into place using a 350-tonne crane.
The reservoir stands 11 metres high, has a diameter of 36 metres and holds the equivalent of four Olympic-size swimming pools.
The project is now entering its third and final phase with the installation of additional pipework and a new booster pumping station located off Flagstaff Road.
