Works to improve Shand Circuit

There will be upgrades made to the front of the Tamworth Regional Airport near the short-term carpark commencing from Monday 28 October. These upgrades will include the realignment of the kerb, construction of stormwater drainage, road pavement reconstruction and reconstruction of the concrete walkway at the front of the airport terminal building.

These works will ultimately complete the renewal of Shand Circuit pavement and will ensure continued compliance with legislation. The construction and renewal of these works will assist in better directing stormwater run-off to help minimise the impact of water damage to the road and provide a new walkway for travellers to use.

Works are anticipated to be completed by January 2025, with some changes to traffic conditions during this time; including the taxi-rank and pick-up and drop-off areas to be temporarily relocated within the short-term car park.

Some dust from the works may be possible, if you are parking your car at the airport, please use the long-term car park if you do not want dust on your car.

In upgrading the road facilities, this project aligns with Council’s Blueprint 100 Our Community Plan 2023-2025, to connect the region and citizens through a safe and effect transport network.
