Tamworth Regional Council acknowledges the Gamilaroi/Kamilaroi people, who are the Traditional Custodians of this land. We would like to pay respect to Elders past and present, and extend that respect to other Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples living in and visiting our region.

Welcome to the new home of volunteering for Tamworth Regional Council.

Volunteering is more than just lending a helping hand; it is a powerful force that fosters compassion, strengthens bonds, and drives positive change. Volunteering plays a pivotal role in enhancing the lives of both volunteers and those they assist.

Volunteers come in all ages, backgrounds and with different experience levels. Individuals, seniors, youth, new and existing residents can all become volunteers and can get involved in a rage of roles depending on their interests and skill sets. The Tamworth region has volunteer opportunities on offer across many sectors of the community including sporting organisations, school groups, service organisations, community groups, aged care services, health and wellbeing services, parks, gardens and outdoor services and arts and culture services.

Volunteers are the life blood of our region. Every day, over 5000 people volunteer their time across the community, supporting youth, families, the elderly, our native flora and fauna, sporting organisations and our thriving arts culture. In NSW alone, volunteers contribute over 178 billion annually to our economy.

HOW CAN I BECOME A VOLUNTEER?

The path to becoming a volunteer will be different for each role. While some informal volunteering opportunities can begin by simply joining a ‘Friends of…’ organisation, other roles, such as assisting in a customer facing role, may require completing an application form or applying for a working with children checks.

WHY IS VOLUNTEERING IMPORTANT?

Volunteers are a significant part of the Tamworth region, and we recognise the incredible impact that individuals can make when they come together to serve the community. Volunteering is more than just lending a helpful hand; it is a powerful force that fosters compassion, strengthens bonds, and drives positive change. Volunteering plays a pivotal role in enhancing the lives of both volunteers and those they assist.

There are a wide range of volunteering opportunities across many areas of Tamworth Regional Council. Making a personal contribution to the community by helping others can be very rewarding.
