Youth Council
The Tamworth Regional Youth Council are the representative body for young people in our region. They meet monthly to discuss relevant issues in our community.
Youth Council members act as an advisory committee and respond to inquiries from Council regarding specific youth issues in the Tamworth region.

Youth Council Expressions of interest open 2nd October 2024 and close 11am Thursday 12th December 2024, click here to apply.
They identify key priorities for local youth and initiate projects to help address these issues.

Meet the current members of Tamworth Regional Youth Council:

Avalya Mathew
Avalya has always lived in Tamworth and seen how it has developed over time. As a young person she hopes that her perspective can provide insight to the interest and the needs of youth, in the process of helping to develop Tamworth.

Bodin Wallace
Bodin want to represent the youth of Tamworth, so young people's voices and concerns are heard. He is also interested in helping make Tamworth a place where youth want to stay and thrive.

Edward Duggan
Edward has had an interest in politics ever since he was old enough to read and understand political cartoons. He has been intrigued by the processes and systems behind governments. Edward would like to make a real and positive contribution to the local community and gain a firsthand understanding of the inner workings of local governments and committees, such that he might go about becoming a more effective and active contributor to local and national politics.

Elle Woods
Elle was previously part of the previous Tamworth Youth Council in 2022-2023 and found it to be a fun and incredible experience. She hopes to further raise awareness of youth concerns across the region and volunteer within the local community. Elle also looks forward to being able to meet new people and develop new leadership skills, whilst assisting others through the Youth Council.

Eva-Mae Davies
Eva joined Youth Council to have a voice in decisions made by our current council, effect change within our region and be heard by local young people. Eva would like to advocate for and see an improvement in cycling infrastructure throughout Tamworth, improving the health and safety of others as well as encouraging cycling in Tamworth.

Mia Elliott
Mia is a proud Aboriginal woman and takes pride in her hometown of Tamworth. Mia would like to promote change and address current issues such as health and education that the Tamworth community is experiencing.

Molly Carey
Molly is passionate about our community and enthusiastically interested about the future of young people. Molly would like to see new opportunities for young people in our region to help them flourish. Molly believes it is important to maintain the focus on young people currently and into the future of our community.

Rory Davis
Rory wants to be a youth advocate for the Manilla community and the region as a whole. She sees access to sport events and festivals as an issue for those living in smaller communities. Access to mental health facilities is also an issue for smaller communities.

Sweta Rai
Sweta has a focus on community and youth. Supporting her peers is important to her as a Youth Council member and drives her to create a positive difference within our changing society. Sweta hopes to be a supportive, understanding, innovative, and equitable voice, aiming to create a diverse range of opportunities, allowing for each individual to maximise their potential.

Thomas Sullivan
Thomas is looking forward to being able to have a say and share his views about community issues. Thomas has leadership qualities gained through extensive involvement in school groups as well as being a high school basketball coach. Thomas would like to be a part of planning and promoting upcoming events and changes within the Tamworth region.

Dominic Fawcett
Dominic joined Tamworth Regional Youth Council in 2023, taking up a leadership opportunity and discovering the positive impact he can have on the Tamworth community. Dominic has a multitude of ideas for helping youth and will continue to work towards finding innovative solutions to problems that currently involve Tamworth Youth. Dominic has learnt so much in the past 12 months and looks forward to 2024 as a Youth Councillor.

Kaida McManus
Kaida joined Tamworth Regional Youth Council in 2023, with previous experience being part of student leadership groups. She hopes to continue being a positive influence in the Tamworth community, supporting a range of events throughout the region and contributing to the Youth Council.

Luke Suter
Luke joined Tamworth Regional Youth Council in 2023, with aspirations to close the divide between young people and the community through making volunteer opportunities more widely available to young people. He believes volunteering is one of the best ways to give back to the community and can have an incredible impact on the mental health of everyone involved. Luke is enjoying working alongside his peers.
